Nizamabad Fort, also known as Nizamabad Quilla, is a fort located in Nizamabad, Telangana, India. It was constructed in the 10th century by the Rashtrakuta Kings and is situated in the southwest of the city, approximately 2 kilometers away from Gandhi Chowk.
The fort houses the Jagannath Temple, also known as Qilla Ramalayam or Raghunath Temple, which serves as a popular tourist attraction and a religious site for Hindu devotees. The temple features spacious halls that cover an area of 3,900 sq. ft. These halls are equipped with a unique ventilation system that ensures a cool atmosphere at all times. Additionally, the temple boasts a 53-feet high pillar that used to be illuminated daily. It is believed that upon witnessing this lamp, the nearby villagers would light lamps in their own homes.
