Place Description

Roopangarh Fort is a former fortress and palace located in the town of Roopangarh, Rajasthan, India. Today, it has been transformed into a hotel. The fortress was originally constructed in 1648 by Maharaja Roop Singh of Kishangarh and was named after him. Situated on top of a hill to the north of Kishangarh, the fort was strategically positioned to control the important trade route to the Sambhar Salt Lake. Over time, a thriving town developed around the fort, becoming a hub for artisans and manufacturers. For a hundred years, it also served as the main residence of the Maharajas of Kishangarh and the capital of the state. Adjacent to the fortress, an elaborate palace was constructed.

In 1999, the Maharaja decided to open the fort as a hotel. Despite its transformation, both the interior and exterior have been preserved to reflect its original palace-like ambiance. The hotel offers a total of 20 rooms, including some incredibly spacious former royal suites.
