The Govindaraja Perumal Temple, also known as Thiruchitrakoodam, is a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It is located in Chidambaram, a town in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The temple is situated within the premises of the Thillai Nataraja Temple and is built in the Dravidian architectural style. It holds great significance as it is mentioned in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alvar saints from the 6th–9th centuries CE. This temple is one of the 108 Divya Desam dedicated to Vishnu, where he is worshipped as Govindaraja Perumal and his consort Lakshmi as Pundarikavalli Thayar.

Additionally, the Govindaraja Perumal Temple is also an important shrine for Shiva worship. It has undergone several renovations and has received offerings from various royal dynasties such as the Pallava, Chola, Pandya, Vijayanagara, and Chera in the ancient and pre-medieval periods. The current structure of the temple primarily dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries, with later additions made in a similar architectural style.

According to legend, the Govindaraja idol was uprooted from the temple complex during the reign of Kulothunga Chola II. However, it was later discovered and reinstated by King Krishnappa Nayak.

Shiva is worshipped as Pasupatheswarar, along with His consort known as Satgunambal and Nalla Nayaki. The temple is located inside the Annamalai University complex.

The temple complex covers an area of two acres and all its shrines are enclosed with concentric rectangular walls. The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Paasupatheeswarar being the most prominent.

The temple has three daily rituals at various times from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and many yearly festivals on its calendar. Tamil New year during the Tamil month of Chittirai is the most prominent festivals celebrated in the temple.

The original complex is believed to have been built by Cholas. In 1914, this was renovated with stone by A.Pethaperumal chettiar of kanadukathan
